Alumni Focus:

Robert Kline '04

This is the sixth in a series of Alumni Focus features where we hear from alumni of the Mathematics and Computer Science Department and find out what they have been doing since graduation. This note is from Rob Kline '04, who was a major in Mathematics. Rob served as the Math Intern for Spring 2005 semester for our department.

Rob writes...

It has been a major transition from life at HWS to existence in the real world, as I am sure you can imagine. I began the summer by being hired by a mortgage bank centered in Towson, Maryland. Just six weeks into the job I was seriously considering quiting the loan officer training program which they had hired me for when on that very day in question I was promoted to the loan officer position in their office in Baltimore. This new opportunity presented me with the dilemma of whether to stay or go, but I decided to sit it out and see what I thought of the new position.

After just another 6 weeks, I made it official and sent in my resignation from that company all together. This decision was reinforced by another business venture that may not surprise you. I am going into the beer business.

A friend and I are now working in a restaurant in Annapolis, MD while we write our business plan and develop our product, beer! In addition, this past week I interviewed at a brewery in the DC area for an assistant brewers position. I am very excited over this business opportunity and will continue to keep you posted.

I hope that all is well up in Geneva. Please pass around the story of my situation as well as good wishes to all the staff and majors up there.
