Spacing

Put a blank line between paragraphs. LaTeX ignores extra lines and extra spaces
Use \smallskip, \medskip, \bigskip, and \vspace{0.25in} for vertical space. The unit of measurement can be in, cm, pt
Use \quad, \qquad, \hspace{0.25in} for horizontal space. A space that can't be ignored can be typed as “\ “ (a backslash followed by a space)
Use \\ to force a line break
