CPSC 441: Protocol Projects ---------------------------- As part of the assignment for Lab 2, will do a little research on an application-layer protocol. Each person will do a different protocol. The assignments were made randomly, by a computer program. You should investigate the assigned protocol and write a report on it. The report must be ONE FULL PAGE of text (single-spaced with reasonable font-size and margins). The report will be turned along with other exercises for Lab 2. The reports will be collected and photocopied for the whole class. The collection of reports will be an assigned reading for the course. In your report, you should explain what the protocol is used for and say something about how it is used. If possible, you should provide some information about the details of the protocol (the actual communication that goes on between client and server). You should give at least one reference to further reading. Try to find the RFC that defines the protocol. And provide any other fundamental information that you think a student of computer networking should know about the protocol. Almonte, Mayra finger (UNIX command and protocol) Austin, Joshua P.
