Using LaTeX

Files are created with a plain text editor
Input contains special markup commands, such as \textbf, and mathematical text such as $x<y$
Input is processed with a command such as “latex” to produce a dvi file
Dvi files can be viewed and printed
There is also a GUI interface to LaTeX named Lyx
